Case Study: Green Earth Mulch

COMPANY: Green Earth Mulch

LOCATION: Carlsbad, California

PROJECT SITE:  Rancho Vallecitos, San Marcos, California

EB MODELS UTILIZED:  EB-60

PROJECT/CHALLENGES:  During development, a builder exposed a rock cliff which the city required be returned to its natural state. The challenges faced included the height of the cliff, 1:1 slope, lack of access to the slope, rock strata and related heat issues for vegetation.

PRODUCTS APPLIED:  Compost

QUANTITIES/DISTANCE:  Blew 1200 cubic yards at distances up to 200 feet.

COMPANY PROFILE:  Green Earth Mulch is a wholesale distributor of compost and mulch products. They represent a number of high end mulch products including the Rexius EcoBerm® and EcoBlanket®. The own and operate two Express Blower™ units.

Rock cliff that city required builder to return to natural state.
Using an Express Blower™ truck and man lift, Green Earth personnel apply an EcoBlanket® using Terraseeding™ with a variety of wildflower seeds.
EcoBlanket® immediately after installation.
Rock cliff approximately six months after EcoBlanket® installation. The variety of wildflower seeds was selected in part for their different growing cycles. In these pictures, the brown vegetation is not dead; rather in its normal seasonal dormant state.
