Case Study: Groundworks

PROJECT SITE:  Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia

PROJECT/CHALLENGES:  The project entailed mulching a new and exclusive resort located on an island. This island is 14 hours from Brisbane and required transport of equipment by barge – on 3 separate occasions. It also required that workers stay on the island and work 14 days straight in order to meet the prescribed deadline. The resort lacks roads equipped for vehicular traffic, so access to various portions of the property was extremely difficult. On-site loading was a must, so organized 6 stockpiles around the property to efficiently complete job.

PRODUCTS APPLIED:  1-inch pine bark

QUANTITIES/DISTANCE: Blew 4000 cubic meters (approximately 4800 cubic yards) up to 170 meters (or about 560 feet).
