Carolina Mulch Plus Case Study

COMPANY: Carolina Mulch Plus

LOCATION: Brevard, North Carolina

PROJECT SITE: Bear Rock Road

EB MODELS UTILIZED: EB-60

PROJECT/CHALLENGES: A section of Bear Rock Road was washed away with part of the mountainside during the storms that were the aftermath of Hurricane Frances. Workers rappelled from a winch mounted on top of the blower truck down this slope which is ½ :1 in most places. The day after installation, a heavy storm with 2″/hour rains pummeled the slope, but not a particle of compost appeared to have moved out of place, again proving compost blanket’s ability to stabilize immediately prior to vegetation establishment. The seed lay dormant on this north facing slope for ten weeks until conditions became right for germination.

PRODUCTS APPLIED: After several unsuccessful attempts to hydroseed this steep slope, Carolina Mulch Plus was contracted to apply a Terraseeded™ compost blanket and Filtersoxx.

QUANTITIES/DISTANCE: A total of 8208 square feet of Terraseeded™ compost blanket (average 2-inch deep) and 68 feet of 12″ Filtersoxx™ were used.

COMPANY PROFILE: Since 2000, Carolina Mulch Plus has been providing quality mulches to their customers through their stockyard, dump truck deliveries, and blower truck installations. They currently own two Express Blower™ units.

Mission Statement:

We strive to provide our clients with innovative, quality equipment plus exceptional customer service to support their erosion control, landscape, green roof, and other environmental services endeavors.
